Here’s why the Dodge Stealth and Mitsubishi 3000GT are the often-overlooked sports cars of the 90s

In this episode I provide the history of the Dodge Stealth and Mitsubishi 3000GT, two sport cars built in Japan starting in 1991 with all-Mitsubishi mechanicals for both cars, but the Dodge version was marketed by Chrysler with different (and some cheaper) styling and trim levels to sell in the U.S. and Canada. The same car was sold in Japan as the Mitsubishi GTO. The top-end versions of both cars had a DOHC twin-turbo V6 that made 300-320 horsepower, and had high-tech features such as four-wheel steering, tunable exhaust and an electronically controlled suspension. But the cheapest Dodge trim had a SOHC V6 with almost half the horsepower, and lots of cheaper looking trim. Dodge discontinued the Stealth in 1996, and Mitsubishi discontinued the 3000GT in 1999, due to the sports car market shrinking in the 90s with too many competitors.
